Find the right chain and guide bar

Start with the markings on your current guide bar or the specifications in your saw’s manual. The chain must have 1/4″ mini pitch and 1.1 mm drive links. Its drive link count must also match the bar. If you are replacing the bar, check that the mount and oil holes fit your saw.

For reference, Husqvarna’s 5″ SP11G chain has 32 drive links. The 10″ and 12″ bar-and-chain kits use 60 and 68 drive links respectively. Always follow the specifications for your particular saw and bar. A 1/4″ chain with 1.3 mm drive links will not fit a 1.1 mm bar, while 3/8″ mini has a different pitch.

Husqvarna SP11G uses a 3.5 mm round file. Choose a filing guide specified for SP11G and use suitable chain oil to lubricate the bar and chain.
